The 5 Love Languages of Children {Book Review and GIVEAWAY!}

About the Book:
"To be their best, children need to feel loved. But if you and your child speak different love languages, your affection might get lost in translation, affecting the child’s attitude, behavior, and development. Dr. Gary Chapman’s groundbreaking Five Love Languages series has helped millions of couples communicate love more clearly, and Dr. Ross Campbell M.D. has applied the innovative system to children as well. The 5 Love Languages of Children gives practical suggestions for learning how your children interpret love and creating a sense of security in which they can thrive."

My Review:
To be honest... this was a hard book for me to cruise through. Mostly because I have a hard time with "programs" or "psychology" books. Yet, it is always good to stretch oneself! Especially when it comes to the topic of loving your children. Therefore I completely recommend this book.

As parents we have a natural heart to love and care for our babies, but as they grow it is important they have knowledge of your love for them.  The 5 Love Languages for Children shares wonderful view on how we can better love our children and understand their unique personalities.

And how often as parents do we even search our hearts on the topic????

Since reading this book, I have not labeled my children individually with one type of love language, but I have been made aware of HOW I am loving them. Being aware of their needs DAILY is half the battle.  I need strength and wisdom from above!
  • Do they need a hug? (physical touch)
  • Do they need a word of encouragement? (words of affirmation)
  • Do they just need some alone time with Mom or Dad? (quality time)
  • Has it been awhile since I have blessed them a genuine gift? (gifts)
  • Am I going the extra mile helping and serving them? (acts of service)

For those of us who seem absent minded on how to accomplish this.. at the end of each chapter Chapman gives ideas to display this love to our children. I was surprised how simple it can be. And how quickly I can forget!!
