Chasing God by Angie Smith {Book Review & Giveaway!!}

I am super mom right? Just had a baby and now time to do a book review! :) Just kidding!

I am happy to share this book with you! I was first introduced to Angie Smith when I read I Will Carry You. I found myself rejoicing and weeping as she authored one of the hardest trials in her life.

When ask to review Chasing God, I did not hesitate to refuse. My only fear was I would not have time with the new baby! Yet, while reading it is like having a conversation with her over coffee which made it a very easy quick read. The beautiful aspect of her writing is her unique honesty. I appreciate the fact she is not afraid to dive into subject which others might avoid.

Although titled Chasing God, it is exactly what Angie is admonishing us NOT TO DO.
He is not running from us. If you have spent your entire Christian walk measure yourself upon your church attendance, women's retreats, attending weekly bible studies, or your reading your bible plan- you might just be chasing Him. Marking off the checklist is not His desire for your life.

Through her personal life experience and scriptural context she encourages us to find that right place- not chasing but following Him.

About Chasing God:
Maybe you’ve never asked the question out loud, but you’ve wondered. You do the things that look good on paper: read your Bible, pray, attend study groups and go to church on Sundays.
But you aren’t convinced you really know Him.
Angie Smith understands, because she had run circles around the same paths searching for Him, frustrated at her lack of progress. And she probably would have continued to do so had it not been for one realization that changed everything.
She wasn’t following God; she was trying to catch up with Him.
And without realizing it, you may be as well.
It’s a distinction that affects every aspect of our lives with Christ, and it begins with learning where we’ve relied more on man’s explanation of God than God Himself.
So many requirements, so many rules, and so much guilt where there is supposed to be freedom. It’s the reason you wonder if you’ve measured up, and the nagging voice that tells you you’re a failure as a Christian.
Three simple words changed everything for Angie, and she believes they can do the same for you.
Stop chasing God.
