Pulling Back the Shades {Book Review & Giveaway!}

Congrats to my last winner on Must-Have Marvin children book!
I am now going to do a complete 360 and offer you this new book- Pulling Back the Shades. ;)
Not recommended for children whatsoever!

First off, let me say this was not my usual daily read in the midst of seven kiddos (while nursing) but I was very intrigued. There are very few books on the subject and I was curious to what these woman had to say.

Have you read Fifty Shades of Grey? Well, I have certainly NOT. From what I heard it was on the New York times best seller and woman were running to it like crazy. It has been quoted and talked about on many venues/talk shows. It is a steamy erotic romance and personally (from the quotes I read), quite disturbing. I was shocked, but not surprised that many faith filled woman are sucked in to the story.

Lets be real. How many times have you heard men struggling with pornography? It is a subject not ignored. Yet, how often to you hear woman struggling with the same problem..perhaps in a different form? Hardly ever.

Whether it be a sexual TV series, reading romance novels, online relationships- WOMAN ARE STRUGGLING TOO!

The book offers practical advice for women to address five core longings:
to be cherished by a man
to be protected by a strong man
to rescue a man
to be sexually alive
to escape reality

Here is a quick synopsis from Pulling Back the Shades

"Christian women don't have to choose between being sexual and spiritual. They have legitimate longings that the Church has been afraid to talk about, and books like Fifty Shades of Grey exploit. Whether you are single or married, sexually dead or just looking to revive your sex life, Pulling Back the Shades will address your desire to be both sexual AND spiritual. With solid Biblical teaching and transparent stories, trusted authors Dannah Gresh and Dr. Juli Slattery, offer an unflinching look at the most personal questions women ask.

God designed women with these longings and has a plan to satisfy them. It's time for women to identify their intimate longings and God-honoring ways to fulfill them."

I fully recommend this book. As you read above it is written by two authors: Dannah and Juli. The text is printed in two different fonts which helps the reader distinguish between their two writings. They both share openly about their different upbringings and marriage struggles. It really helped me take a deeper look into protecting and seeking the intimacy God designed for my marriage.

Please enter this giveaway. This book will educate you or perhaps even help you. It may be one you can give to a friend or family member who is struggling with a wandering heart.
